Job Summary - Vehicle Mechanic
Support/maintain light vehicle fleet to include preventive and corrective maintenance.   Troubleshoot/diagnose issues,  generates appropriate parts list to ensure all necessary parts and pieces are on hand  in a timely manner to  keep vehicles in sound operating condition.



  • Completing preventive maintenance such as oil changes, tire rotations, fluid checks, etc on schedule for fleet of light vehicles

  • Troubleshooting and diagnosing vehicle issues

  • Ability to  remove and install major components such as engines, transmission, etc. ensuring vehicles operate to the manufacturer specifications

  • Ability to replace/repair  components such as brakes, water pumps, alternators, etc.

  • Must be proficient in diagnosing light vehicle 12v electrical systems   

  • Complete maintenance reporting and other documentation as required

  • Communicate effectively and professionally with other team members

  • Be a leader of both safety and production for the team by ensuring compliance with all MSHA and company safety policies and procedures

  • Multi-tasker and ability to work in high stress situations

  • May perform other related duties as assigned


  • A minimum of 3 years documented experience as a vehicle mechanic

  • Experience conducting minor/major repairs/maintenance on light vehicles equipment

  • Ability to be a team leader in all safety aspects of the position

  • Ability to prioritize and re-arrange schedule to meet immediate/unplanned requirements

  • Willingness to assist elsewhere on the mine site when needed such as the crushing crew leach crew, etc

  • Must meet minimum tool requirements

  • Valid Driver’s License


Work Conditions

  • Ability to work rotating day/night shifts

  • Ability to work overtime

  • Ability to work outside in all weather extremes

  • Personal protective equipment is required when performing this work (safety shoes, hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, respirator, etc as needed)
